Song of the Vampires
There are songs about vampires- lyrics about drinking blood, sleeping in coffins, not reflecting in mirrors…you get the image. Some of them are tastefully done and quite addicting with a hook of melody. But some others are just cheesy, seemingly crafted to jump on the vampire bandwagon.
Then there are other songs that just speak the trials of a vampire without even trying.
Jill gave me one of her CDs the evening we met and asked me to take a listen. On the drive back home to Colorado, her melodies on her CD “Every Street Inside of You~ Mexico City” had me feeling calm one moment, quirky and happy the next, and then solemn and reflective in the other. I love songs that can pull at every emotion from deep within you. That’s when you know there is magic in the craft. And while I loved one track after another, there was one song that riddled my body with Goosebumps and rendered me speechless.
Blessing Moon.
Without even thinking, the song conjured up scenes that I have written, were works in progress or have just dreamed about. I could see a mysterious figure walking across an open field, a creature pondering his existence in the shadows, a lover’s embrace, and a vision of flight through the clouds and over the mountaintops with each note. The lyrics weaving through the melody had a way of creating a mystical journey of emotions from despair to discovery. And for me, a little hint of a paranormal fantasy.
Four months after meeting Jill, pages of my fantasy world come alive with her haunting and mesmerizing melody, Blessing Moon.
